MANDATORY TRAINING REQUIREMENT FOR ANIMAL USERS

Prior to the start of any animal activity, all PI's, faculty, students and research staff who use live vertebrate animals in research or instruction are required to complete training in the subjects on the left. To obtain IACUC certification, investigators and all personnel involved in any research project using animals must complete Laws and Regulations and Introduction to Animal Hazards Program Modules.  No access to the animal facilities will be granted unless you complete the training.

It is the responsibility of the PI to ensure that all personnel listed on the PI’s animal use protocol complete the required training in animal care and use.

All individuals listed on IACUC Protocols must take Laws and Regulations and the Introduction to Animal Hazards Program modules. Those actually working with animals must take the module for each of the species with which they work (species-specific).  Those doing survival animal surgery, must take the Surgery module. The Protocol & Animal Ordering Program tracks the species for which individuals are certified. When a new species is requested, individuals are required to complete the new species modules.

To contact the IACUC Certification Office call 520-621-3931.  Fax: 520-621-8833, or email: iacuctrn@ahsc.arizona.edu
